Campaign for a city tailored to people

The project was implemented in collaboration with the Ljubljana Cycling Network and Matej Praprotnik, the cycling mayor of Ljubljana!

The project was supported by the Impact4Values program "SLOWLY GETTING BETTER: a campaign for a city tailored to people"

Počasi bo bolje

IPREš, together with the Ljubljana Cycling Network, the Association for the Promotion of Cycling and Sustainable Transport (LKM) and the Cycling Mayor of Ljubljana, Matej Praprotnik, organized an action in the fall of 2025, supported by the Impact4Values program, with the aim of enabling a broader, constructive discussion on the benefits of improving traffic regulation for the benefit of vulnerable population groups, sustainable mobility and thus the environment.

We carried out a number of activities during the European Mobility Week (EMW), 16. – 22. 9. 2025:

Bike bus: group cycling to school took place every morning between Tuesday 16 September and Monday 22 September, starting at 7 am in front of the Maksa Pečarja Primary School in Črnuče

The bike bus has continued throughout the school year, every Wednesday and Friday (https://www.bicivlak.si).

On the first day of the bike bus, 16 September, the President of the Republic, Dr. Nataša Pirc Musar, also participated in the cycling to school, thereby supporting the campaign!

Kidical Mass: the family cycling parade was held on Saturday, September 20, at 3 p.m

Before the Kidical Mass, KoloFest took place – a cycling celebration, which started at 1 p.m. and also included a mobile cycling workshop KOLO POP UP – a check of the condition of your bike, basic service and advice. After the cycling parade, a fun gathering and a test of skills for children at the cycling training ground followed in the Slovenian Reformation Park. KoloFest before and after the Kidical Mass was enriched by free cycling pancakes!

The public debate FOR and AGAINST traffic calming in Črnuče took place on Monday, 22 September, starting at 6 pm at the Črnuče Cultural Centre (Dunajska cesta 367, Ljubljana). We started the debate with a screening of the film “Why we cycle” and eminent guests: Deputy Mayor of Ljubljana, Roko Žnidaršič, landscape architect Maja Simoneti (IPoP), urban planner Luka Mladenovič (UIRS), Leo Rikata Ružič, president of LKM and others…

The report from the event and a summary of the collected proposals is available in the posts on our social networks!

Since we do not want the ETM activities to remain only temporary, we have collected signatures in support of the request for a thorough renovation of Dunajska cesta in Črnuče:

The petition was also accompanied by a brochure, which provides more information, arguments and proposals regarding the situation on Dunajska cesta in Črnuče.

The campaign concluded with the presentation of the petition to representatives of the City Council, who will be able to implement the proposed changes, thus achieving the goal of encouraging concrete changes in the area.
